A project in Yates County was one of just four in this region that receive funding from Gov. Eliot Spitzer. In an annoucement made by the governor in Rochester, Yates County Industrial Development Agency learned an application for $750,000 for a Finger Lakes Viticulture and Organic Market Center has been granted.
The popularity of farmers markets in the United States has grown concurrently with organic production and consumer interest in locally and organically produced foods. Many producers in the United States are embracing organic farming to lower input costs, conserve nonrenewable resources, capture high value markets and boost farm income.
