The Yates County Industrial Development Agency decided Wednesday to extend a tax abatement deal with Empire Pipeline for an additional 10 years.

The agency approved a conditional 15 year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with the pipeline company in April that gave it the option to reconsider the agreement should any other agency be given a better deal.

Under the new 25-year agreement, which is similar to Ontario County's recently approved deal, Empire Pipeline will pay Yates County $236,440 annually for the first five years; $472,880 annually in years six through ten; $709,320 annually for years eleven through fifteen; and $688,000 annually for the last 10 years.
